#23 player Class of 2015
6’5 185 pound PG
Ternecula Valley HS (CA)/ SD Gamepoint (AAU)
Q1. Engelhardt: What were some of the reasons you committed to Arizona?
A1. Simon: I really loved everything they had to offer. The university itself was great and the basketball program has an amazing staff and they recruit guys you’d want to play with.
Q2. Engelhardt: Fellow 5 star guard Tyler Dorsey just decommitted from Arizona; thus they are now trying to recruit another guard for their 2015 class. What type of guard would complement your game well?
A2. Simon: Well Arizona already has a lot of great guards, Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Kadeem Allen, so if you add me along with Isaiah Briscoe or Allonzo Trier then you can’t go wrong. It will be interesting to see how things play out, but I’m excited about it.
Q3. Engelhardt: What do you consider to be the strengths of your game?
A3. Simon: What helps me a lot is my size (6’5) for my position; thus a strength of mine is being able to guard three different guard positions. Some of my other strengths include: being able to rebound and lead the break, being unselfish and finding teammates, and making an athletic play at the rim in transition.
Q4. Engelhardt: Before getting to Arizona, what part of your game do you need to work on the most?
A4. Simon: I need to work on making my shot around the arc more consistent.
Q5. Engelhardt: What current/former NBA player do you model your game after?
A5. Simon: I get compared to a lot of different players; for my defense I hear a little bit of Gary Payton, for my size Michael Carter-Williams (MCW) and for my offense a bigger Tony Parker.
Q6. Engelhardt: What type of drills do you find most beneficial to your game?
A6. Simon: I find different type of shooting and ball-handling drills to be most helpful.
Q7. Engelhardt: Are there any current High School players you could see yourself playing with at Arizona
A7. Simon: Yes, as far guards go I named a few earlier (Allonzo Trier and Isaiah Briscoe). I would also like to play with Jaylen Brown, Ray Smith, Ivan Rabb, Stephen Zimmerman and Chase Jeter. You can’t go wrong with any of those 5 stars!!!
Q8. Engelhardt: I know you can play both PG and SG, but what position do you plan to mainly play at Arizona?
A8. Simon: I mean what ever best fits the team. Coach Miller is a great coach and it’s on me to find my role on the team.
Q9. Engelhardt: What are your goals for your senior season?
A9. Simon: Getting stronger and better overall player to prepare for college.
Q10. Engelhardt: Is there anything that you would like to say to Arizona fans that are reading this?
A10. Simon: I’m looking forward to a great 2014 season and hopefully an even better 2015. The last Simon that went to Arizona won a National Championship, hopefully we can repeat history!
Engelhardt: Great answers man, thanks for taking time out of your day to do an interview, it really means a lot! Good luck with everything!
Simon: Thank you it’s an honor!! I really appreciate the love!!
